Haifa Templar Colony

Haifa’s German Colony is well known for its Mediterranean tiles and terracotta red- roofed houses dating from the 1870’s. What was once a German Templar Society settlement is now one of Haifa’s hottest neighborhoods filled with restaurants, cafes, boutiques and bars.

We highly recommend strolling among the wrought-iron lamps, small gardens and elegant traffic circles down the paved newly restored Ben-Gurion Ave. at evening time, gazing up towards the illuminated Bahai hanging gardens overlooking Haifa’s German Colony or walking down towards the city seaport.

Haifa’s German Colony also inhabits the Wizo College of Design. The academy now resides in a renovated building which was used as a youth center. It was important to accommodate the design of the new building to the German Colony architectural style, while expressing the design academy spirit.

The Templars have left the city of Haifa with a beautiful architectural legacy that we all can enjoy during our Haifa Israel vacation.
